Our cat Luna got tagged by a Rattler Tuesday the 2nd of April. So that makes this a week. Yes, we are sure it was a Rattlesnake. This is the edge of the Sonoran Desert, so they are par for the course, ya might say.I hadn’t posted before this, because to be honest, I didn’t want to post of success prematurely. But she has made it a week. She was miserable for that week, but she made itYeah, when she got tagged, I will be honest, I thought she was a goner. She was hyper ventilating, and the leg was already swollen. Then, while we were trying to get a look at the wound, she got away from us and went under the house. We were thinking great, she is gonna go under there and die, and we will get to smell it all summer… awesome sauce!
But no… a few hours later she showed up on the porch, wonded, haggard, but alive. We cleaned it up as best we could, but didn’t want to dress it, feeling we needed to let the poison that would drain, do so. Ansd to be fair, in the beginning, I didn’t think she would make it. I just wanted her to be comfortable when she died… and not comfortably stinking up my house from underneath…But every day she has gotten better. She is walking on it, swelling is gone, and the wound is healing up nice. She is gonna limp for a while yet…. and perhaps be a little more leery of snakes…… but hey….. ya got 8 more, waste em the way ya want to, Luna-Cat….
