Found Top Piece Grand Army Of The Republic Membership Medal amongst some family Keepsakes

In my packing for our impending moveout of Mammoth, Arizona, I ran across this old pin. I am pretty sure it is from My Rose side ofthefamily, as all my dad’s ancestors lines were pretty much exclusively Confederate.

I do remember my mom speaking of at least one Rose ancestor that fought for the Union. Indeed, she may have had one ancestor that served in both the Confederate and Union Armies.I did a little research, and it seems these were given to Union Veterans, about 20 years after the end of the war.I only have the top half, and don’t have the ribbon either, but still, pretty cool. Hopefully, I will eventually figure out who in my family it belonged to
