On this, my eighth Fathers Day, I feel the need to thank my father and grandfathers, for showing me how to be a father. An imperfect, but passionate, engaged, loving father.
I want to thank my mother as well, for teaching me how to parent, gender be damned.
I want to thank my wife, for giving me the opportunity to be a father. For deciding I was the one, the perfect guy, to have and raise children with, I am humbled by your choice.
But mostly, I want to thank my children, my amazing, caring, wacky children.
Thank them, for choosing me, to guide and teach, to love and nurture them, thru this life. Thank them, for honoring me, with this responsibility. Thank them, for believing in me.
Thank them, for saving me, from what may very well have been a forgettable life… certainly a lonely one.
I am grateful, humbled, and feel oh so unworthy of your praise…
