My buddy
In my boots
This kid
Has personality
At clearance
store volume
His comedy
His humor
Flows over
Cascades over
And out
Of those canoes
Some call
Boots.
Still small
Only six
And yet
His personality
Is too big
For these boots
He can already
Fill Daddy’s shoes
Regardless
How big of
Boots
They are
To fill.
All children
Can readily
Fill the shoes
The boots
Of their
Predecessors
It is my job
To not
Diminish him
To make him
Feel large
Not small
Empowered
Not embittered
Lest I make him
Too small
To fill boots
He is already
Too big for.
