Avi found a freshly hatched Monarch yesterday, just in time for Dia De Los Muertos.
As the Monarch is a focal point of the indigenous roots of the whole thing, the cultural origins of the holiday, it isn’t a surprise. Lucky though.
The Monarch swarms are supposed to be manifestations of ancestors returning to visit. Pretty sure, before Western calendars, the Monarchs arrival dictated the festival, not their local calendar.
Anyhow, I will take it as fortuitous for us, that one of our ancestors stopped by, took a rest on our porch, then continued on…. to wherever…
